Hong Kong-based man worries for cousin and family buried beneath rubble in Turkey earthquakes

Rescue efforts are continuing in Turkey, following twin earthquakes that shook the country and neighbouring Syria on February 6, 2022. For relatives of people still missing, waiting for news about loved ones has been agonising, including those who are halfway across the world, such as Hong Kong-based Mehmet Gurtin. He and his family have been unable to get any updates on his cousin and her family who are trapped beneath the rubble in the town of Antakya, close to the epicentre of the two quakes. Although unable to be there, Gurtin is doing what he can from abroad, by starting a campaign to raise funds for much needed aid in Turkey. Gurtin has set up a page on the platform Sparkraise to raise funds to assist in Turkey and Syria.
