Recovery efforts continued in Egypt’s Suez Canal on March 24, 2021, a day after the 200,000 tonne MV Ever Given container ship became stuck in the waterway. Footage released by the Suez Canal Authority showed tugboats trying to nudge the ship away from the sides of the channel. The ship was bound for the Netherlands from China when it ran aground, blocking all marine traffic in the canal and disrupting a vital global trade route between Europe and Asia.
