Dramatic video of eruption of Iceland volcano that was dormant for 900 years

The eruption of a volcano that had been dormant for more than 900 years sent streams of lava flowing across a small valley in southwestern Iceland on March 20, 2021. After thousands of small earthquakes in recent weeks, the fissure eruption began the previous night in the Geldingadalur Valley, about 40km (25 miles) from the capital Reykjavik. The Icelandic Meteorological Office classified the event as a small eruption and said volcanic activity is easing and should not interfere with air travel or require nearby evacuation.
