Beijing on high alert before National Day military parade

China will hold its biggest-ever military parade on October 1, 2019, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Shops and restaurants along Jianguo Road where the parade will be held are closed for business. Security has been tightened. Service has also been suspended on parts of Beijing's subway lines.
