Scuffles over extradition bill near Hong Kong’s Yau Tong MTR station between protesters and government supporters

At least three people were arrested after an angry confrontation near a “Lennon Wall” in Hong Kong’s Yau Tong railway station on the evening of July 10, 2019. Police intervened as a small group of anti-extradition bill campaigners squared off against mostly middle-aged men who voiced support for Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam. The station is near a cluster of government quarters for fire and police officers and their families.
Lennon Walls first appeared in the 1980s in the Czech Republic as protesters used graffiti and lyrics inspired by John Lennon and the Beatles. Hong Kong’s first Lennon Wall appeared near the Legislative Council complex during the Occupy protests in 2014.
