Hong Kong extradition bill

Hong Kong protesters consider next move as Occupy protest leader Joshua Wong released from jail

Roads around Hong Kong's legislature were cleared the morning after a massive rally against a contentious extradition bill.

Organisers say the third mass demonstration against the proposed law brought out nearly 2 million people on Sunday, Jun 16, 2019.

A few hundred demonstrators stayed in the area overnight, blocking roads, but voluntarily left after police appealed for them to leave.

Some protesters moved to a park outside the government headquarters to consider their next move.

One prominent figure in recent Hong Kong protests who was not at the anti-extradition bill demonstrations is student activist Joshua Wong.

The 22-year-old founder of political group Demosisto has spent the past month in jail for contempt of court. After he was released Monday morning, Wong reiterated calls for the government to drop the extradition bill.
