Beijing pet owners turn to traditional Chinese medicine with pooch acupuncture

Acupuncture is part of the ancient practice of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). For centuries, it's not only used to treat humans, but also animals. Some pet owners in Beijing send their furry friends to get acupuncture. They believe acupuncture is less invasive and has fewer side effects than Western medicine such as surgery. Li Wen, a veterinary surgeon based in the Chinese capital, opened his acupuncture practice for pets in 2016 and says he handles some 2,000 animals per year.
