Rare footage of the Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning was released on August 28, 2020. showing the vessel at sea with aircraft conducting a series of drills on the vessel. The Liaoning is one of two combat-ready aircraft carriers that China currently operates. China's first aircraft carrier, the 300-metre ship warship was commissioned in 2012 after it refurbished and upgraded from an unfinished Soviet carrier. Previously named Varyag, the vessel was acquired by China from Ukraine in 1998.
