India’s medical fraternity is up in arms over the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor. The horrific case has sparked strikes by professionals and women’s groups across the country, as well as demands for stronger staff security. The resident doctor was found dead on August 9, 2024, at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Marks on her body indicated she suffered injuries and sexual assault, according to police and local officials. One suspect has been arrested.
