Former Indian lawmaker and brother shot dead on live TV

Former Indian lawmaker Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead in a dramatic attack that was caught live on television in northern India, officials said on April 16, 2023. The two brothers were under police escort on their way to a medical check-up when three men posing as journalists shot the brothers at close range in the city of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh state.
