Himalayan avalanche kills at least 7, traps dozens in area along India’s border with China

An avalanche killed at least seven tourists in India’s northeastern state of Sikkim on April 4, 2023. At least 350 people were rescued from the mountainous region along India’s border with China, but dozens more are feared still trapped under the snow. An eyewitness said police had recently warned tourists against travelling on the Nathu La mountain pass because of inclement weather.
