Pregnant women in Pakistan make perilous journeys to give birth amid record floods

Pakistan has experienced record monsoon rains since June 2022, with tens of thousands of homes destroyed and millions of people affected. Among them are pregnant women who have been forced to take perilous journeys to get to hospitals to give birth. Rubina Mallah, who lives in southern Pakistan, had to travel three hours by boat before giving birth to her son.
