At least 73 people have been confirmed dead in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, after separatist militant attacks on police stations, railway lines and highways, as well as retaliatory operations by security forces, officials said on August 26, 2024. The group Baloch Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Balochistan is a resource-rich area in the nation’s southwest and home to major China-led projects, including a port as well as gold and copper mining.
