Isis stash containing hundreds of bags of seized cash uncovered in Iraqi city of Mosul

Over a hundred sacks containing packs of banknotes rolled up in plastic bags have been recovered from a hole in the floor leading to the coffers of a branch of the Iraqi central bank. The cash, found in the northern city of Mosul on October 20, 2021, is believed to be some of the several hundred million US dollars worth of Iraqi currency seized by Islamic State (Isis) militants when they took control of the city in 2014.
