As US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan nears, Hazara militia fighters prepare for the worst

Afghan security forces are struggling to hold off increasingly powerful Taliban militants as slow-moving peace talks continue between warring factions in the country. But while  negotiations continue, a May 2021 deadline for the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan is nearing. The departure of US forces is of great concern to the Hazara people, one of the most oppressed groups in Afghanistan. Unsure if their government can protect them after the Americans leave, ethnic Afghan Hazara people have started joining militia groups.
