Young female activist leads fight to save forests and biodiversity in southwestern India

Activist Neola Pereira has been inspiring other young people to join her fight to save Mollem National Park in India’s Goa state. The group has been campaigning for months against a government plan to expand a train line that snakes through the park. Activists fear that work to expand the rail infrastructure signals a plan to turn the southwestern state into a coal hub.
