A volcano has erupted on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, just days after the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit the island. Ash from the Soputan volcano was observed to reach a height of 5,800 m (about 19,000 ft). No casualties or damage were reported. The official death toll from the September 28 earthquake and tsunami stands at 1,374, including 120 non-Indonesians, while many more are still missing.
