It’s winter in California, so why is Los Angeles County on fire?

Ferocious wildfires have ripped through the city of Los Angeles since January 7, 2025. More than 100,000 people have been evacuated, including celebrities living in Hollywood Hills. While the natural disaster is shaping up to be one of the most destructive fires in southern California’s history, experts say it was perhaps inevitable, given how wildfires in the region have been intensifying in the last decade.
