Elon Musk joins experts in call for pause on AI development because of possible ‘risks to society’

Elon Musk joined over 1,000 artificial intelligence experts and industry executives in signing an open letter, calling for a pause in AI system development. The open letter said AI systems pose “profound risks to society and humanity”, and called for at least a six-month suspension to set safety protocols and build governing frameworks by industry stakeholders.
