Protesters and police clash in Minnesota after officer charged over shooting death of black man

Hundreds of protesters defied a curfew to gather outside police headquarters in a suburb of the city of Minneapolis in the US state of Minnesota on April 14, 2021. The demonstrations in Brooklyn Center were over the fatal shooting of a black man, Daunte Wright, by former police officer Kim Potter who has resigned and now is in custody facing manslaughter charges in connection with the case. As the 10pm curfew approached, the demonstration turned violent as riot police tried to disperse crowds with pepper spray, tear gas and flash-bangs. At least 24 people were arrested on charges including curfew violations, officials said.
