Paris Attacks

Indonesian President Joko Widodo condemns France’s Macron for comments on Paris and Nice attacks

While condemning recent attacks in the cities of Paris and Nice, Indonesian President Joko Widodo has also condemned his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron for his response to the violence. In a news conference on October 31, 2020, Widodo said Macron “insulted Islam and hurt the feelings of Muslims around the world”. France has been rocked by deadly attacks suspected to be linked to Islamist extremism. In the French capital on October 16, a teacher was beheaded after he showed pupils cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed. On October 29, an attacker using a knife killed three people at a church in the southern city of Nice.
