Chinese football fans have flooded social media with praise for Singapore after their heroic effort against Thailand brought China a step closer to qualifying for the Fifa 2026 World Cup. Thailand won against Singapore in a 3-1 match on June 11, 2024, but needed one additional goal to remain in the season. As a result, China made it through despite a 1-0 loss to South Korea on the same night.
