World’s oldest ironman aims to break his own record for the third time next year at the age of 87

Hiromu Inada, holds the Guinness World Records for the oldest person to complete an Ironman World Championship. In 2018, he finished the course within the 17-hour cut-off mark in Hawaii. The 87-year-old wakes up at 4:30am every day and is already in the pool by 6am as part of his training. He says he is preparing to break his own record again at next year’s race.


The race is widely considered one of the toughest endurance sports events. Athletes are required to swim 3.86 km, cycle 180.2 km and run a full 42.2 km marathon.
