Getting around Hong Kong with a pet is not easy for many owners, especially if they do not own a car. The city’s first animal-friendly double-decker bus hit the road on October 13, 2024. Pet owners have welcomed the new coach service that runs on weekends and public holidays. But many say it's far from enough to make the city pet-friendly. Some shopping centres in Hong Kong currently allow entry to pets if they are carried by owners or placed in strollers, while pets are still banned from many places, including other public transport and most restaurants.
