Hong Kong singer-songwriter Xavian Wu Siu-yin, who goes by the artist name SY, has released a new song that charts his transition from female to male. The transgender musician said that Obstacle Course, which includes lyrics recorded before and after his voice changed, was about “learning to embrace yourself, to triumph over challenges.” During the transition, he compiled a series of self video portraits taken daily, showing the physical changes over a three-year period, including the appearance of facial hair and changes to the shape of his face.
