Hong Kong’s organ-donation rate is among the lowest in the world. According to Hong Kong’s Department of Health, only 298,442 of the seven million people living in the city are registered as donors. That poor showing has prompted calls from both recipients and relatives of donors for more people to sign up for donation lists. Specialists in the organ-donation field say changes to the registration process may encourage more people to step forward.
