Meet ‘Bull’ Tsang Kin-shing, the creator of protest props in Hong Kong

In 1990, a year after the Tiananmen square massacre, then construction worker Tsang Kin-shing made full use of his crafting skills by using two bicycles and a few planks to build a tank model in protest of Beijing’s bloody crackdown on students calling for democracy.

Tsang’s moving tank has drawn lots of attention as he marched from North Point to Xinhua’s headquarters in Happy Valley - China’s then de facto embassy in Hong Kong - with his allies. He even installed an extinguisher inside the model to act as its cannon.

The now 61-year-old activist has played an interesting role in Hong Kong’s democracy movement as he is one of the leading pioneers in introducing creative props to the dubbed "City of Protests".
