China is easing visa application rules for foreigners travelling to the mainland from Hong Kong if they have been inoculated with Chinese-made Covid-19 vaccines. The simplified procedures, which went into effect on March 15, 2021, are meant to “resume people-to-people exchanges between China and other countries in an orderly manner”, according to an announcement from China's Foreign Ministry office in Hong Kong. China is awaiting World Health Organization (WHO) approval of its Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines for emergency use.
