A male elephant left behind by its herd in China’s Yunnan province is continuing its solitary journey. The pack has been on the move since late 2020, until the lone elephant broke away from the group on June 6, 2021. So far the elephant, which is believed to be near Kunming, shows no sign of rejoining the herd after a week of solo travel. The rest of the elephants meanwhile have been spotted 17km away near the city of Yuxi in the town of Shijie. Experts suspect the herd may be waiting for the stray elephant before resuming its travels.
