Japanese ballet company hopes to put global plastic crisis on centre stage

The Japanese dance company K-BALLET has launched a new project, Plastic, to draw people's awareness to the global pollution crisis through some unusual set and wardrobe design. The dancers’ wardrobe is made from used bubble wrap and recycled bottles. Single-use plastic remains a huge problem in Japan, where even individual pieces of fruit frequently come packaged. Plastic waste has doubled globally in 20 years and only nine per cent is successfully recycled, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
