India administers its 1 billionth Covid-19 vaccine dose despite shortages

On October 21, 2021, India administered its one billionth Covid-19 dose. About three quarters of adults in the country of 1.3 billion people have had at least one shot, while 30 per cent are fully vaccinated, according to government figures.
