Chicken soup, honey and vitamin C: our readers tell us about the best cures for a winter cold
We asked our readers what’s the best cure for a winter cold. Here are some of our favourite answers
Natural treatments
First, stay away from air conditioned environments to avoid catching a cold. But if it’s already too late, take some turmeric with honey, as this helps soothe allergies. You can also use Vacha oil as a nasal drop for sneezes and runny noses. Natural healing ways work the best!

It's important to drink lots and lots of warm fluid and rest. Basically, stay in bed all day with a mug of warm water or tea. This will cure you cold in a jiffy.

Sleep it off
Drink more warm water, rest more and take a deep sleep without thinking too much about work. This is the simplest and the most effective way for a quick recovery!

Spicy choice

A healthy dose of YP
Curl up with a copy of Young Post or a good read, and a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows. I may not be any good at maths, but I know that Young Post + hot chocolate = successful cure for a winter cold.

Pack it in
It's time to use the sniffles starter pack: a humidifier, plenty of sleep and a mug of hot lemon tea. Simple but essential.

Get moving!
While staying at home and sleeping sounds like the best way to cure a cold, I find that keeping active and hydrated is a much better solution. Not only does exercise get your blood pumping - keeping you nice and warm in the cold season - but it also aids the white blood cells in your body that fight against disease.
So break out some music, and get moving! You’ll be feeling better in no time.

Fruity solution
A nice hot shower will warm you up and help clear blocked noses. But you should also eat more fruit and drink fruit juice to up your intake of vitamin C. This will help your body fight off nasty colds.

Just give me love
No medicine is better than being taken care of by loved ones. Some tea and sympathy is sure to cure a winter cold.

Perfect recipe
I would drink chicken soup to kick away the winter cold. Chicken is considered as something good for health, as it has the nutrients we need. Just add some garlic and red pepper to the soup, and you have the perfect recipe to restore your health!
