Do you feel well-equipped to dive into the world of AI and education? If you want to find out more, don’t miss the public seminar, “Digital Education in an AI Era”.
Hang Seng University of Hong Kong’s (HSU) centre for public policy research and Baptist University’s (BU) comparative governance and policy research centre have teamed up to bring this free event for all students, teachers and parents, who are interested in gaining insights on how AI can revolutionise education.
“With the popularity of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence programs, AI literacy will become an important issue,” said assistant professor at HSU and co-organiser of the seminar, Gary Tang Kin-yat.
Are AI tools such as ChatGPT the future of learning?
“AI literacy refers to the knowledge of how to interact with artificial intelligence to obtain the greatest assistance in one’s work and learning. This includes understanding the operating principles and limitations of each version of AI programs, in order to determine how to modify courses and train students in other areas of expertise.”
A panel of four experts will explore how AI presents an opportunity for exploring new education methods, and what different parties are doing to pursue education on digital literacy related to AI.
Tommie Lo, the founder and CEO of Preface, an AI-powered education technology company, will share how he curates education programmes that cater to society’s immediate needs in coping with technological development. Preface is one of the supporting units of the seminar.
Andy Chan, a social worker and supervisor at Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, another supporting party, will talk about his experience in pursuing projects to improve society’s awareness of AI literacy.
Dr Ip Ka-wai, an assistant professor at BU’s department of government and international studies, will offer insights into what our society lacks in terms of digital literacy.
Emily Tsang, editor of Young Post and one of the guest speakers, will discuss how AI affects the youth’s approach to career planning and education.
