Prodigy, Pond, Temples and Jungle added to Massive Attack, MO and Dandy Warhols in latest Clockenflap line-up announcement
The festival just got a whole lot more exciting, with a string of old-school and up-and-coming bands taking to the stage this November
Neo-soul group Jungle is ready to hit the concrete jungle of Hong Kong for Clockenflap 2017.Festival organisers have just released Clockenflap’s second line-up announcement, revealing that The Prodigy will headline one of the days.
The legendary British electronic band are sure to get the city’s old-school ravers hyped, while collective Jungle will bring their trademark laidback modern soul to the Central harbourfront.
Meanwhile, fans of spaced-out sounds will be overjoyed to see psychedelic rock bands Temples and Pond – both confirmed to take to the stages beneath the island’s amazing skyline.
The latest reveal also includes hip hop outfit Young Fathers, punks Slaves, dubstep king Skream, and throwback tribute group The Bootleg Beatles, who have been covering songs by The Beatles, one of the world’s most influential rock bands, since 1980.
In June, headliners Massive Attack, plus MO, Feist, Blossoms and The Dandy Warhols were among the first wave of acts announced to play the festival, held from November 17 to 19. The weekend will also see performances by local indie groups Supper Moment, Per Se, David Boring and Fan Hung A.
Last year’s memorable festival saw post-rockers Sigur Ros, hip hop star MIA, and high-powered rock group Foals topping a bill that also featured Hong Kong’s own tfvsjs, Michael Lai, CharmCharmChu and Ocean Lam.
The festival was founded by friends Justin Sweeting, Mike Forster and Mike Hill, who started making plans for a Hong Kong-based music festival in 2005, before officially launching the first festival a couple of years later. The first edition was attended by 1,500 people, but the event grew quickly and now attracts about 60,000 revellers each year, many of whom fly in to Hong Kong from all over the globe.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the annual event, which was first based at Cyberport, before it moved to the West Kowloon Harbourfront, and is now held near the ferry piers in Central.
Clockenflap is a three-day music festival held from November 17 to 19.
