Beijing Winter Olympics 2022

Skier Arif Khan is India’s only athlete competing in the Beijing Winter Olympics

Skier Arif Mohammad Khan is the only athlete who will be representing India at the Beijing Winter Olympics as they open on February 4, 2022. India has sent only 15 athletes to compete in Winter Games over the years, and none of them have won any medals. The country’s official governing body for winter sports “Ski and Snowboard India” was only made a full-fledged member of the global International Ski Federation in 2021. But Khan, who has been skiing since the age of four, says he is ready, having grown up in a Himalayan town in Indian-administered Kashmir. The ski resort at Gulmarg sits at an elevation of 3,985 metres (13,074ft) and is among the world’s highest. Khan hopes his Games debut will promote India as a skiing destination and raise the nation’s sporting standards.
