Humidity in breath makes cotton masks better at stopping Covid-19’s spread, study finds

Cotton masks can be more effective at halting Covid-19’s spread than synthetic masks, a new study by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) showed. Researchers said cotton fabrics are nearly 35 per cent better at capturing particles when made slightly moist by human breath, but synthetic masks’ performance did not improve with humidity.
