Millions of travellers in China have been flocking to major attractions in Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou as the country celebrates its first National Day holiday since lifting all Covid restrictions. The eight-day holiday, which started on September 29, 2023, saw 53.4 million passengers travelling nationwide by railway, highways, and by air as of October 2, according to the Ministry of Transportation. With domestic travel booming this year, experts said retailers abroad might have to wait longer for the return of Chinese tourists.
