China’s Shenzhou 16 spacecraft blasted off from the Jiuquan satellite launch centre on the morning of May 30, 2023, for the Tiangong space station. The spacecraft is carrying three crew members, including China’s first civilian astronaut, a Beihang University professor. The crew’s five-month space mission includes conducting a series of in-orbit experiments.
