Gunmen open fire on Afghan wedding, killing 3 in dispute over live music

Three gunmen claiming to be with the Taliban opened fire on a crowd of 50 guests at a wedding in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province on October 30, 2021. The gunmen were said to be angry that live music was being performed at the wedding – an alleged violation of Islamic law. The Taliban banned all music during its previous rule, but has yet to issue an official edict on it since retaking Afghanistan in August. A Taliban spokesman says the attackers are not from the group and were engaged in what he called a “personal feud”.
