Afghan women’s driving centre on verge of shutting down following Taliban takeover

A driving centre in Afghanistan is on the verge of closing following the Taliban takeover of the country in August 2021. The driving school, which opened around a year ago, is the first in the country to cater to women by having female instructors. Many Afghan women were barred from learning to drive by their families because instruction was often done by a man. The centre has helped more women to learn how to drive and female instructors to make a living. Now its office is temporarily closed following the return to Taliban rule, but its owner hopes that the school will not be forced to close.
