Rattan coffins from Indonesia becoming environmentally friendly option for European funerals

A growing number of Europeans arranging final farewells for their loved ones are choosing rattan coffins from Indonesia rather than relatively less environmentally friendly wooden caskets. The trend has apparently only accelerated because of rising demand amid the pandemic. Indonesian coffin maker Natianingsih said demand for his rattan coffins has increased by 50 per cent since Covid-19 first emerged in early 2020.
