Cosy and cool cafe Flamingo Bloom offers Instagrammable drinks and a perfect tropical backdrop for your pics

Vibe: Did someone say pool party? Because this place will certainly put you in the mood for one. With fluorescent pink inflatable flamingos on almost every surface, and an entire wall covered in wallpaper featuring palm leaves, exotic flowers and (you guessed it) yet more flamingos, this uber-trendy cafe will make you feel as if you’ve just entered the lobby of a tropical boutique hotel.

Who to take: Of course, the tea drinkers of your friendship group will like this cafe, but the avid Instagramers among your cohort may well appreciate it even more. What’s more, their keen eye will ensure that they find the perfect angle for a great photo of you clutching your fruity iced tea. While the tables are small and can’t fit more than four of your besties, the shop never gets particularly busy.

What’s hot: The best thing about this place is how much variety there is, and how personalised you can make your drink – you can choose everything from the size, flavour, sweetness, and toppings. If you need some guidance, the crafted floral teas, topped with fresh fruit or dried flowers, are delightfully sweet and fragrant. There are too many different flavours to list, but we liked the rose oolong tea. For something less floral and more fruity, try one of the smashed fruit teas. We recommend the smashed mangoes and jasmine tips green tea; the sweetness of the mango works well with the leafiness of the tea. If you have a super sweet tooth, opt for something rich and creamy like the caramel milk tea – it’s even better when you add pearls.

What’s not: Flamingo Bloom knows where its expertise lies – tea – and it sticks to it. While this makes sense for a tea shop, if you’re looking for snacks to nibble on with your drink, you won’t find many options here.
There a small toastie menu, with toppings such as mashed tomato or avocado, and some very tasty tea-infused cupcakes, but that’s pretty much it.

Cost: Drinks range from HK$23 for a plain tea, to HK$43 for a milk tea with fruit or salted cream cheese toppings. Toasties cost HK$49-HK$59, but there’s a HK$10 discount if you order them with your drink.
