Vibe: With floor to ceiling windows along the cafe front, and bright yellows walls, low-hanging light pendants and comfy chairs inside, PAN de PAIN’s interior perfectly complements its light-but-sweet menu. Its sunny aesthetic definitely says “morning”, and is sure to put you in the right mood for breakfast.

Who to take: With such an amazing selection of dishes, you’re going to want to try as many as possible, so be sure to bring a large group of friends that you can split servings with. Just make sure they all have a sweet tooth and a big appetite.

What’s hot: Of course, you need to try PAN de PAIN’s original souffle pancakes, which are so light and fluffy you will truly feel as if you’re eating sweet, sumptuous clouds. Even better, they’re served with a little jug of syrup and a dollop of clotted cream.

The signature stacked pancakes are also to die for; we recommend trying the strawberry pancakes, which come layered with pink mousse and fresh strawberries, and vanilla sauce on the side.

While the pancakes are obviously the main draw, be sure to save some room for the brûlée French toast. With perfectly caramelised sugar on top and soft and fluffy on the inside, the toast, which is served with syrup, mousse, clotted cream, and fresh fruit, is one slice of eggy, buttery, sugary perfection.

For something a little less sweet, try the savoury souffle pancakes – we recommend the smoked salmon and avocado one. It comes with a delicious dressing that will leave you smacking your lips for more.

What’s not: With perfectly executed dishes at reasonable prices, it’s hard to find anything wrong with this place – unless, of course, you don’t have a sweet tooth, in which case you are definitely going to struggle.

Admittedly, there isn’t much in the way of variety; PAN de PAIN specialises in one thing and one thing only – its delicious pancakes – so don’t expect much else on the menu besides that.

Cost: All sweet dishes start at HK$78, and go up to HK$98 depending on the toppings. Savoury dishes cost between HK$68 andHK$88. Drinks range all the way from HK$26 for an espresso to HK$68 for a refreshing fruit-filled detox water.
