More than 80 per cent of eyeshadow products tested by Hong Kong’s consumer watchdog have been found to contain heavy metals that may cause skin allergies. The Hong Kong Consumer Council tested 25 types of eyeshadow in stick, cream and liquid forms. The presence of lead was detected in all of the products, but their levels did not pose safety concerns. The 10 eyeshadow sticks or crayons, seven cream and eight liquid eyeshadows were analysed for four metals that could cause skin irritation.
