Chinese retirees hold rare protest over cuts in healthcare insurance

Hundreds of retirees protested in the central Chinese city of Wuhan on February 15, 2023, after their individual healthcare insurance was cut by nearly two-thirds. It was the second protest of its kind in a week. The government says the cuts in the monthly payout will be channelled to a communal pool, as part of reforms in the country’s national medical insurance system.
