Wild swings in Hong Kong and mainland China stock markets

It has been a roller coaster week for stock markets in Hong Kong and on the mainland as China’s onshore and offshore markets rebounded from sell-offs after its central bank kicked off a US$70 billion swap facility to support institutional buying. Meanwhile, traders continued to bet on more fiscal stimulus to shore up growth. To make sense of the situation, the Post spoke with Carlos Casanova, senior economist for Asia at Swiss private lender UBP.
