  • The possibility of a lockdown in Hong Kong has seen panic buying and empty supermarket shelves, but these delivery services have vowed to keep us well fed
  • From roasted yellow chicken by Uwe Opocensky at Island Shangri-La to healthy meal plans from Eatology, these out-the-box options might make lockdown a tad more bearable

While supermarket shelves are empty and delivery services are experiencing delays, it’s easy to get caught up with the tension, succumb to your survival instincts, and join the foray of panic buying sweeping Hong Kong.

Details are still being discussed as to who would count as essential workers during a potential lockdown situation, but delivery services have vowed to step up and deliver quality produce to their clients in the meantime.

Jonathan Glover, founder of premium online butcher Steak King tells us he has all hands on deck to cope with the current surge in demand. “Everyone is mucking in [to help],” he says. “Our IT manager is driving a truck and so is one of our restaurant managers.

“Tomorrow we have six refrigerated vehicles going out – in addition to my own car – for quick dashes with Southside orders. We have a team of six butchers cutting and packing steaks and another team of six packers – that includes our marketing team – putting the orders together so that we can fill the orders of our customers.”
