With autumn officially upon us, it’s time to venture out and taste some of the best that the city has to offer this month.
New opening: Duddell’s

One of the city’s favourite dim sum spots has just opened a new outpost at the airport. Duddell’s, which operates around the clock, now offers travellers a taste of its Michelin star-worthy dim sum and Chinese dishes, from pork and shrimp dumpling with conpoy to double-boiled shiitake mushroom soup.
A new addition to this location is roasted goose, which is marinated for two days. In addition, there is a selection of “grab-and-go” hot meals (think: barbecued pork and soya chicken bento boxes) for the busy jetsetter who needs to fuel up before catching his or her flight.

New opening: Wolfgang Puck Kitchen

Another welcome addition to the growing casual fine dining scene at the airport (of all places!) is Wolfgang Puck Kitchen. The celebrated chef is making his debut in the arrival halls of the airport, with all-day dining options offered from 6:30am to 12:30am. Guests can expect hearty American-style breakfast options along with comfort food from its a la carte menu. The restaurant has already soft-opened in mid-September, but its grand opening is set for October 9, 2019.

New opening: Tiffany Blue Box Cafe

Breakfast at Tiffany’s is set to be a reality for Hongkongers who don’t want to travel halfway across the world to New York. The Blue Box Cafe, which opens in mid-October in Hong Kong, will be the brand’s second cafe – and its first in Asia. And if the New York version is anything to go by, diners can expect to be dazzled when the Hong Kong version opens. The cafe will offer delectable bites complemented by good coffee, and will tables will be dressed with utensils and tableware by Tiffany.
Diners can make reservations via on the online platform starting mid-October.

Where to eat vegan food from around the world in Hong Kong
Madame Fu x 3CE afternoon tea

Madame Fu and hip Korean beauty brand 3CE have collaborated to present an Instagramable afternoon tea set designed to suit every millennial’s dream. The new afternoon tea set is inspired by 3CE’s new cloud lip tint collection; there will be red-coloured food meant to mirror the colours in the collection.
Highlights of the afternoon tea set include cloud-shaped meringues (a cheeky nod to the collection name), as well as blood orange mousse, raspberry choux and strawberry tartlet. Another not-to-be-missed item is the sesame doughnut with sweet purple potato filling. Each tea set also includes a 3CE gift set to kick-off each diner’s K-beauty addiction.

Tory Burch is teaming up with InterContinental Hong Kong to present an afternoon tea collaboration inspired by the fashion designer’s fall/winter 2019 collection. The collection features modern lines paired with relaxed silhouettes, accentuated with strong colours. Highlights of the afternoon tea include barbecue pork with purple sweet potato bun, saffron scallops with ink bread, raspberry and rose tartlet and dark chocolate eclair.

The Upper House is turning 10 this year and it’s marking the occasion with a wine pairing celebration menu at Cafe Gray Deluxe, it signature fine dining establishment. Highlights of the menu include Hokkaido scallops and slow-braised veal cheek. There is a selection of 2009 vintages to commemorate the hotel’s opening year as well.

Ozone x Monkey 47 pop-up gin bar at Ozone

The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong is teaming up with gin makers Monkey 47 for a one-month pop-up event at Ozone bar, perched on the 118th floor of the tallest building in Hong Kong. A selection of creative cocktails will be whipped up using Monkey 47 gin, and guests can sip them while admiring the sky-high views of Victoria Harbour and the city. Not-to-be-missed drinks include Love-Under (Monkey 47 lavender-infused gin, green Chartreuse, Maraschino Luxardo and lemon juice) and Max’s Rope (made with Monkey 47 gin, yellow Chartreuse, lemon juice, agave syrup and Angostura orange bitters).

Chef Akira Umehara x Shikigiku

The master sushi chef from Kyoto’s acclaimed Sushidokoro MAN will make an appearance at Shikigiku from October 8 to 12. Chef Umehara prides himself in having the best contacts to get his hands on the best seafood, notably known to have fisherman call him from their boats to discuss the catch of the day. All the ingredients on the set menus are jet-fresh from Japan, which includes his famous thinly sliced squid with its sweet flavour and soft and slightly chewy texture. Other highlights include fatty tuna, sea eel, whiting fish from Honshu and Kyushu shrimp.

﻿Locanda dell' Angelo six hands dinner

﻿Hong Kong’s gourmands are in for a treat. From October 15 to 17, renowned Austrian chef Roland Schuller will be joining forces with chefs Angelo Aglianó and Shun Ng of ﻿Italian restaurant Locanda dell’ Angelo in Happy Valley to create a special menu. Diners can look forward to dishes like scampi with caviar, lard net and melon granite, as well as risotto with sea urchin, wasabi and chives. For those who were fans of The Drawing Room, the Michelin-starred restaurant in Causeway Bay, Schuller needs no introduction. He was executive chef at the popular eatery until it closed in 2013, and is currently with Galleria Milano in Bangkok.
