Are you curious about healthcare, especially modern issues like mental resilience, medical breakthroughs and how climate change affects our health?

These are some of the topics covered at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) ’s unique “Summer Discovery Academy”.

From July 23 to 29, 2025, this five-day programme run by the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care provides an immersive and experiential look into the world of public health and primary care.

Public health is more important than ever, especially after the pandemic. This programme is about preventing diseases and promoting well-being for entire communities, not just individuals.

The school is a leader in health innovation – it is the first in Hong Kong to integrate public health and primary care into its teaching and research. The programme will offer opportunities to explore crucial health topics with leading experts.

You can expect to learn about ...

  • screening equipment used to detect illness with Professor Crystal Chan

  • the global obesity challenge with Dr Tony Yung

  • the unseen world of microbiomes with Professor Hein Min-tun

  • mental health and resilience with Professor Nelson Yeung

  • environmental health with hands-on field experience with Professor Ho Kin-fai

Beyond lectures, there are extracurricular activities organised by CUHK students and alums that offer a taste of life on the university campus.

Secondary school students in Forms Four and Five – or equivalent levels – can apply. Scholarships are available for bright students, as well as discounts for early applications.
