This spring, we asked our readers to craft poems on the topic of dreams.

Most of us have a hard time remembering how our dreams begin, but we can recall the feelings they evoke, whether a sense of longing, inspiration, or even a haunting presence.

Browse through the five poems we’ve selected for this page - we hope they can transport you to the readers’ whimsical dreams and experience its mystique. Stay tuned to our website and Instagram to find out about the next Creative Sparks prompt.

“Whispers of the Night”

In the quiet cradle of midnight
dreams unfurl their silken wings
carrying us beyond the veil of slumber
where reality and fantasy entwine.

We dance upon moonbeams
our footsteps etching constellations
as stardust weaves our celestial gowns
and the night sky becomes our ballroom.

Dreams elusive as morning mist
paint landscapes of forgotten memories
where lost love finds solace
and broken wings mend in secret gardens.

I’ve wandered through corridors of time
chasing echoes of laughter and tears
meeting ghosts of yesteryears
their stories etched upon my heart.

The dreamer’s canvas knows no bounds
for within its threads lie galaxies
each star a wish, each comet a promise
and the universe whispers, “Create.”

So let us dream, my fellow wanderers.

Midnight blue etches across the ceiling,
like a series of stars twinkling.

As bright as diamonds, as big as the sea,
this vast landscape urges me to contemplate the meaning of me.

Painted horizons and blurry blue evenings
arrange themselves into a canvas of thoughts.

Destiny rooted into the crevices of my subconscious,
a tiny pair of fires starting to ignite,
strange mirages of possibilities tempt my loosely handled bars
as each sparkling phenomenon begins to rewrite the stars.

“Under a starry night sky”

In dreams and dreams
In realms and realms
Inside the themes I fly

Deep inside the sea
Adventure, what I see
Ripples by ripples, light

Lead me but plight!

Stars perish, clash the way,
destruction is the day.
Explosion, flames, everywhere,
missing the peaceful air.

“It will be fine”
Comforting line
for you and me she cheered.

Spreading wings, hope rings,
the angel is now here.

In dream’s embrace, the surgeon’s fire ignites,
a passion fierce, burning with unwavering might.

With steadfast hands and a heart ablaze,
they seek healing’s essence in a transformative phase,
the theatre of surgery, their sacred domain,
where life’s symphony unfolds, free from disdain.

In the surgeon’s fervent desire,
passion ignites a radiant pyre.

To leave an impact on lives forever changed,
they tread through light and darkness arranged.

With resolute purpose, they mend, they restore,
a testament to the healing power they explore.

Praise me haughty lover!
Beyond a melody-woven dream
beyond the thin gadget screen
his words sweet as honey.
He held my hand upon sparkling sand
upon his flamboyant shore.

Lament me, tempestuous fate,
for the inferno before my dreams
after trials long and tribulations irate
before my pen’s long streams.

Lock me not in a honey cell
wrapped in delusional dreams
when he fades out as fictional pixels.
Over hell is the learned bard’s dreams!

Drowned in delusions long I’ve had
over their gilded plight.
In addiction one soul falls mad;
they deprive my sight of light.

Yet, I wish not to gamble
out to jeopardise my pen.
Farewell, my fictional shambles,
Aribit, my true dream in starlike glen!
Neither delusions nor low spirits
can halt my star-decked dreams!

Until my pen scribes my destinies
right upon eloquent roars,
in my hands, I write my dreams like trees
near golden shores!

End my hesitation, for to dreams I belong.
